ScienceHound Science Fair Rules

1. How to Enter the Science Fair:

(a) with a valid email, create your membership account
(b) submit as many projects as you wish
(c) teachers and parents may submit entries for their students/kids
(d) chances of winning depend on the strengths and attribute of your project
(e) good projects will attract large votes

2. When does the Science Fair judging end?

- 31st January every year
- Challenge Trophies will be announced on 15 February

3. Eligibility Restrictions:

(a) all students of all levels worldwide may participate
(b) ScienceHound staff and immediate family members may not participate
(c) you may participate as many times as you wish
(d) all entries are subject to perpetual licensing permissions granted to ScienceHound.com
(e) by entering, all participants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work, and grant to ScienceHound.com the right to edit, publish, promote and otherwise use their entries without further permission, notice or compensation.

4. Prizes:

(a) 1 Challenge Trophy winner, 1 Runner-up and 1 Second Runner-up will receive US$1000, US$500 and US$250 respectively
(b) All prizes will be mailed to winners, or delivered by electronic means at ScienceHound's discretion
(c) Prizes are not transferable. ScienceHound.com reserves the right to substitute awards with prizes of comparable value.

5. Selection of Winners:

(a) Decisions of contest sponsors with respect to the contest are final.
(b) Challenge Trophy winners will be picked by the ScienceHound.com judges, from the pool of Gold Ribbon projects.
(c) The number of votes will be the largest determining factor the judges to decide on winners. However, judges have the right to promote or demote entries, based on other factors such as quality.
(d) However, to avoid abuse of the voting system, judges have the discretion to veto or disqualify any projects

6. Conditions:

(a) Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.
(b) By participating in the Science Fair, the winner or winners (or, in the case of a minor, their parent/legal guardian) agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize. If a prizewinner is a minor, prize may be awarded to the minor's parent or legal guardian and that winner’s travel companion must be his/her parent or legal guardian. Unless a member of winner’s immediate family, travel companion must be 18 years of age or older. Travel companion must travel with winner and must also sign and return a travel release, which must be returned with winner’s affidavit of eligibility. By accepting the prize, each winner grants to ScienceHound.com the right to use the winner's name, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). All expenses on receipt and use of prize are the sole responsibility of winner. Winner and travel companion, by acceptance of their prizes, agree to release ScienceHound.com, their respective parents and subsidiaries, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity.

7. ScienceHound.com reserve the right to make changes in the rules of the science fair, which will become effective upon announcement.

8. No purchase is necessary to participate.

9. The ScienceHound.com Science Fair challenge/competition is void where prohibited by law.

10. Failure to comply with these rules may result in a participant’s disqualification.
