Do white candles burn faster than colored candles?

Project title:
Do white candles burn faster than colored candles?
Middle school
None

Hypothesis:

I think the white candle will burn the fastes.

Materials:

-ruler
-stopwatch
-blackmarker
-candles
-matches

The Procedure:

-set candles 4inch apart
-mark line one inch done from the wick of each candle
-lit them at once
-start timeing how long it took them to burn out.
-stopped timening when the mark on the candle was gone

Results:

My results was that the colored canldes burned faster than the white canldes.

You may need a multispectrum photometer to measure the "amount" of light.

I gather that what you need to measure is the intensity of light that passed through, regardless of the wavelength/frequency.

On the other hand, you may want to actually ascertain what frequencies of light are "permitted" to pass through the contact lense as well. That might be interesting to observe.

We did the same experiment and found that the white candle burnt a bit faster than the blue or green one. Where can I find information on why that is?

Why some people say that the white candle burned faster and other people say that the colored candle burns the fastest???So which one really burns the fastes???
