EGG FLOATATION

Hypothesis:

A egg will sink in regular tap water. How much salt needs to be added to the water to make it float on the top of the water or just be submerged?

Materials:

1 water
2 eggs
3 salt
4 cylinders
5 gram scale
6 clear ml. beakers

The Procedure:

1 weight of eggs
2 200 ML of water
3 gradually add salt until egg is submerged
4 different beaker 200 Ml of water
5 gradually add salt until egg is floating
6 measure difference in salt to water density for sink, submereged and floating egg

Results:

Egg 1 Weight is 50gm
300ml of water
+50gm of salt
=Submerged egg

Egg 2 Weight is 50gm
200ml of water
+50gm of salt
=Floating egg

Egg 3 weight of egg 50gm
200ml of water
+ no salt
= sunken egg
