Project title:
Do ferns grow faster in cold weather?
Middle school
None

Hypothesis:

My hypothesis is that ferns grow faster in cold weather. I base my hypothesis on past observations that I have made.

Materials:

3 young ferns in pots of the same size.
3 rooms with air conditioning
water
Measuring tape

The Procedure:

I placed one pot in each room.
Adjusted the temperature in the rooms to 15 degrees Celcius, 22 degrees Celcius and 28 degrees Celcius respectively.
I watered the pots twice a day with 200ml of distilled water
I ensured that the lighting conditions were the same for each room.
After 2 weeks, I measured the lengths of each fern (the ferns were the same size to start with).

Results:

The fern in the room with the temperature set to 15 degrees grew the fastest.

My hypothesis has been proved correct.
