Project title:
A Push and Pull for Static Electricity
High school
None

Hypothesis:

If an object, in this case a piece of PVC piping, holds a static charge, it will emit an electrical field strong enough for its effects on a water droplet's trajectory to be observed.

Materials:

A materal, indicated using the Triboelectric Series, that has a tendency to give up protons and become positively charged and another material that that gathers protons and becomes negatively charged (I Chose wool and PVC pipe, respectfully.); video camera and tripod; computer with Tracker video analysis software loaded onto it; Water; cup with a small hole at the bottom; a stand stand to place the PVC piping upon; black back-drop, towel.
