Hypothesis:

I think that black absorbs heat better than white and will inflate the balloon quicker.

Materials:

1. one plastic bottle painted white
2. one plastic bottle painted black
3. several balloons

The Procedure:

place the open end of a small balloon on the mouth of the white bottle and do the same for the black bottle. place both bottles in bright sunlight or under lamp. watch which balloon expand first and touch the bottles to see which is warmer.

Results:

the balloon of the black bottle started to expand first while the balloon on the white bottle remained limp. the black bottled felt much warmer than the white bottle.
