Hypothesis:

The color of the house significantly affects the temperature inside.

Materials:

A large piece of plywood (120cm x 600cm) to make the model houses, spray paint (black, white & silver), thermometer or thermometers, a saw, glue, pencil, ruler, an adult to help with the saw

The Procedure:

* make model houses exact same size
* paint the model houses
* make sure that the model houses stay in the shade or the sun altogether, rather than one in the shade and the other in the sun
* measure temperature inside the houses in the sun, shade, at night

Results:

The temperature inside the black house was as much as 7.5 degrees C (19.5 degrees F) higher than in the white one: 38.1 vs 30.6 degrees C (100.6 vs 87.1 degrees F).
